I. This is a literate, independent, selective and head-canon based blog for Baxter of Vivziepop’s Hazbin Hotel, unaffiliated with both source material and fandom. Likely to be canon-divergent in the future.

Could technically be considered a topielec. Has features of both Krøyer's deep-sea angler fish (Ceratias holboelli) & the black piranha (Serrasalmus rhombeus). I incorporate qualities of each of these into his portrayal & anatomy.

PRE-DEATH.

Having no biological family of his own, Baxter was picked up by a cardiologist who took an interest in his potential at a young age. The same man was responsible for teaching him how to communicate in English.

After multiple visits to the home cast over a few months, accompanied by books and papers for a young Baxter to read, he eventually opted to take Baxter home with him to continue cultivating what he considered a very promising prodigy.
Baxter did, and still does, hold him in high regard.

While his interests are in many branches of science, he initially chose to pursue
medical science. He attended schooling in London for a degree in medicine with the intention of becoming a surgeon, funded by his adoptive father.

Neurotic, obsessive, underhanded & sycophantic.
Reclusive & misanthropic, but undeniably talented in his areas of expertise.

Baxter will never neglect an opportunity to garner further education in a topic of interest. It’s the most likely reason he’ll ever venture outside of his comfort zone.

Not an inventor by trade, but dabbles in creation when presented with an opportunity that overlaps whatever he’s currently working on.

MOTIVATIONS.

He’s always had morbid fascinations.

Obsessed with death & all that pertains to it. Always playing around with methods of embalming & preservation, a lot of chemicals, a lot of seeing what will happen if he does such-and-such.

His goal in life was to discover a sort of panacea. Of course, there’s nothing that can treat every possible disease or ailment; it’s too broad of a goal to even begin to try and tackle. So while he does dabble in inventing new drugs & supplements, his goal gradually began to move towards resurrecting the dead rather than curing the living. Once he could do that, he could work from the ground up, in a way.

The dead always were easier to work with. Getting his hands on a cadaver was never difficult for him, as someone studying to become a surgeon.
.
Although one would think it a waste of time to pursue such a thing in the afterlife, Baxter’s passions remain steadfast. Currently, the most pressing of his ongoing projects are trying to figure out how to prevent organ rejection & obviously, re-establishing proper functionality in the brain after re-animation.

It’s overall an amalgamation of his unorthodox beliefs, illegal activities & his vocal mannerism that both got him killed & his life's work ultimately plagiarized by the person he trusted most. The science community is ruthless.
